About Mayabunder
Mayabunder, situated in the north of the Middle Andamans is also referred to as Maya Bunder. Not only is it a part of the Indian Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, it is also one among the five local administrative segmentations of the Indian district of Andaman. It functions in a way a county does. Mayabunder is a second largest "tehsil" in terms of area but has the smallest population. Mayabunder is inhabited by the settlers from Burma, East Pakistan and ex-convicts and has a distinct culture of its own. Mayabunder is famed for its oceanic beauty and gorgeous beaches.

About 70 km by road from Rangat, Mayabunder provides you the opportunity to enjoy a holiday in the serene and unpolluted environs. The Karmatang Beach is the most fascinating beach at a distance of about 12 km from Mayabunder. If you are visiting Mayabunder, the Karmatang Beach is a must-see destination. Karmatang Beach is also a nesting ground for the turtles. If you happen to visit the place during the months of December to February, you can also watch the nesting of the turtles. The Karmatang Beach and the brooks fringed by mangroves are one of the major attractions. You can accommodate yourself at the Swiftlet Nest guest house of the Directorate of Tourism which is very near to the Karmatang beach.

Other places of tourist interest in and around Mayabunder include Avis Island and Interim Island. In order to reach Mayabunder, you have sail through Port Blair which is approximately about 157 kms from this point. Port Blair is connected to the major cities of Chennai, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. There are regular flights that operate to and from these places.

How to Get There
One who comes by boat from Port Blair will reach Aerial Bay Jetty, which is very near to places like Diglipur and Kalipur. Port Blair - Diglipur boat services are available twice a week. Kalighat is well connected by daily two boat services from Mayabunder.
