Old City of Ahmedabad

Rani ki Vav, Patan

It was also built during the Solanki dynasty, apparently in memory of the ruler Bhimdev I, by his widowed wife. Discovered relatively recently, the well was flooded by the nearby Saraswati River and was sedimented until the late 1980s. When excavated by the Archaeological Service of India, its sizes were found in pristine conditions.
